Usually one walk a day is enough but, in Fenruary 2014, with almost constant rain and floods all over the city I was struggling to fit in the miles for the one hundred miles a month challenge I’d set myself. Blue sky, floods and the Job Centre – first published 8 February 2014

With all the wind and rain we had in early February 2014 I got a bit behind with the February miles so I was hoping to fit a few in on my Job Centre jaunt. There was even a plan. After the Job Centre I thought I’d walk a winding route through the parks and wooded areas of the city centre and back home over Cobden Bridge with a little look at Riverside on the way. Another night of heavy rain plus morning news full of floods and weather warnings told me that might not be the best of plans. Less Hiking, more city walking – first published 6 February 2014

There wasn’t much interesting walking going on in early February 2014, no hiking through the woods wading through burst riverbanks. The guest photos above and below may give you a clue why. That’s not to say there was no walking or interesting things. There just weren’t any of those meandering walks where I stumble across plants, animals and pretty scenery whilst carrying emergency supplies in my rucksack. Floods and fungi – first published 3 February 2014

When I pledged to walk one hundred miles every month in 2014 I forgot about February with its pesky twenty eight days. Of course this meant I was going to have to up my daily average if I wanted to hit my February target. WIth a few sums I worked out it was just over three and a half miles a day.
