Sweltering in the sun at Wyvern

This turned out to be a real running weekend. After the celebrations of Southampton parkrun’s fifth birthday came the last of the Itchen Spitfire Championship 10k races, the Wyvern 10k. Commando’s illness and that fact he’s in the same age category as speedy Gerry, meant he had little chance of winning anything but he was still running the race. 2015 new places and new things in old places

If summer 2015 had a lesson for me it seemed to be that I should take a closer look at the places I thought I knew well. There certainly turned out to be a few surprises in store when  I did. I also learned that the best way to find something was to stop looking for it when my frustratingly unsuccessful cygnet hunt came to an unexpected end.

Commanndo’s running hijacked my Sunday walk this week due to the Wyvern 10k, which was also his first ever event running as part of the Itchen Spitfires running club.
