Quacky races

In our house early starts usually mean races and it was certainly early when CJ and I left the house. We were heading for Mansbridge and a race but any similarity to a normal race day ended with the early hour. For one Commando was still at home in bed sleeping off the night shift. There were no trainers, no race kit and there would be no medals at the end. Of course, the twelve mile marker wasn’t the final piece of my September 2013 mother and daughter walk at all. We still had to walk to the wharf and from there to the centre of Winchester to catch the train home. Finding the train station has always been an issue for me in the past. A little mother daughter bonding – first published 11 September 2013

It’s no secret that I’d have liked a daughter. Don’t get me wrong, I love my three boys to bits but, it would have been lovely to have a girl. Now I have a daughter in law and on 11 September 2013 we went for a little walk. When I say little, I meant about fourteen and a half miles. In my defence, she did know what she was getting into.
